The purpose of this study is to examine the junior high school students' readiness for drafting in technology education. Especially, the effects of experiences of constructive plays and learning related subjects at elementary school are focus of this paper. The investigation was administered to 245 junior high school students, and the items of this investigation were constructed from questionnaires for grasping their experiences of constructive plays and achievement tests for grasping their competence for space-cognition.
As for the results of multi regression analyses, the following effects were found: an effect of playing with building blocks on applications of constructing operations in a three-dimensional shape,effects of playing with LEGO blocks on understanding factors in constructing a three-dimensional shape, and presuming hidden surfaces. On the relationships with the learning experiences in related subjects, the following effects were found: an effect of the learning experiences in Fine Arts and Crafts on promoting competence of presuming hidden surfaces, an effect of learning experiences of the Figure Area in mathematics on promoting competence for mental-rotation, application of constructing operations in a three-dimensional shape and understanding factors that construct a three-dimensional shape.
It was suggested that the experiences of constructive plays such as blocks and geometric learning in mathematics at an elementary school level have an important role in students' readiness for drafting in technology education.
